They can take any where from 6 months of age to a yr. You never want to breed on the first heat. They still are like children during the first heat and don't take care of the puppies very well. You should wait until the second heat. Now if the second heat happens just over a yr then you should wait until the 3rd heat.

Most dogs usually go into heat around 6 months old.
Please spay/neuter. If you have intention to breed, the dog is recommended to be 2 yrs old (physically and mentally mature by then), before breeding.

5-6 months, get her spayed before it happens!!!
