I'm debating a trip to Atlantic City for the night, and if traffic is horrible tomorrow morning I may decide against it.

Depending on where you're coming from. If you're coming from up north, then Sprain Brook and the West Side Highway usually aren't so bad (though with the holidays soon, it might get worse. On the other hand, many New Yorkers are elsewhere for the New Year, so it will probably be business as usual).
If you're coming from the south, the tunnels are always a mess and you can lose hours just standing around.
My advice would be to listen to the radio (1010 WINS is fantastic..traffic on the 1's) before you leave.

Take the Greyhound Bus to Atlantic City from Port Authority.

Traffic has actually been a bit light lately but there are tons of TOURISTS everywhere! If you are driving in the area, it should be good, but if you are looking to walk it is bad! You should not have any problem with driving, but I would avoid times square and other tourist destinations. The line at the Empire State Building was around the block today!

Packed like always. I would recommend that you take greyhound because that's your best option if you don't like slow moving traffic. Good Luck
