That can be an internal self-defense mechanism.

A lot of people go into denial with their feelings, bury them so that they don't have to feel anything. I think for many people, however, that this "technique" generally bubbles back up to the surface and can bite them in the a**. A good example is if someone breaks up with me, and it's too painful to deal with, I might start dating a whole bunch of guys just to "forget" what happened and take my mind off it. Unfortunately, not dealing with the feelings, processing the pain, ends up being prolonged down the line because you realize that these other guys don't take the place of the first guy because you haven't dealt with the original feelings!

It's best to "feel" your feelings. Have a good cry, write in a journal, acknowledge that you had feelings, experienced a loss, and then slowly move past it with emotional integrity. You will be healthier in the long run. Believe me, it's a good thing that you can't do it. :)

Sometimes those with certain conditions cannot process emotions like most people.
I know, for me, I can turn things off or on.
I know that people with Asperger's Syndrome (a form of Autism) will not feel emotions like other people. Just part of the condition.

You also have other mental conditions that can cause this to happen as well.

Some ppl can shove feelings to the back of their mind.. and not think about them for a long time.. others really had no real feelings.. so when it ends... they just go on... and some... pretend there is nothing there.. and try to ignor it.. a way to get through it...

it takes time. write in a journal(this is for both guys and girls) and just take time and keep busy and slowly the pain will ease away

i think some people want to be friend so that they can feed on your energy to mend themselves then they move on to the next. i don't really understand that either.

It's easy

Say the following things

I Break with Thee
I Break with Thee
I Break with Thee

Then spit in his shoes
