Start by doing a search for a file in that folder. If you are lucky, it's still all there. If it is really deleted, try looking in the trash can. If still no luck, there are software that can bring back SOME of your files that are permanantly deleted. But at that stage, you need some REAL help.

Alright, well, in a perfect world, you would not be able to recover your folder. However, Windows does not follow the rules for the perfect world when it deletes files. When a file is deleted, it is simply removed from the directory listing so that you don't think it's there anymore. It actually remains in place until something overwrites it on the hard drive. Thus, if you haven't added anything to your computer since the restore, you should be able to recover the folder.

The key thing is that, if you download a utility, install it, and run it, you're likely to overwrite the data you're trying to recover. Thus, you want to get a piece of software that can do data recovery straight from the CD, like Norton SystemWorks. If you run that from the CD and haven't added anything to the hard drive that the folder was on, you should be able to recover it.

Still, depending on how you "restored" your installation, you may be out of luck. If the restore re-partitioned your hard drive, then the data is gone; clearing the partition table is a great way to un-clutter a hard drive.

Realistically, the chances of you recovering your data are not that high. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try; the website referenced below should help. It's where I got most of the information in this post.

You most likely have lost it forever but there is still a chance it may still be on your hard drive.

Click on My Computer icon and wait for the new page to open.

Locate the drive that represents your hard drive (Local Disk C or ?)

Click on that Icon to open it up.

Start with clicking on Documents and Settings File. Look through there to try to locate the folder.

If you can not locate it there you most likely wont get it back.

One other thing you may try is to go back into your restore settings and try to go back a week or longer. You should be able to reverse the Quick restore as you have not let days pass by yet.

Boy Oh Boy, Good Luck

it's highly unlikely you can. After you restore your computer, that's it. Restoring your computer does just that; it restores it to a blank slate. All the stuff that WAS there isn't anymore. Best thing to do is back up all your important data on a small external hard drive or partition your computer's hard drive to where if you need to restore your computer, put all your files on the partition you're not using. That way it'll still be there.

Restoring the OS should not have lost files.

Sure you didn't re-format? That sends everything to never never land. You would have had to re-load all your back-up discs in that case.
Hereafter, back up, back-up, back-up, on discs.
I'd bet we've all been there, done that.

If you run anti virus and pay close attention, you may see it and the path, if it's anywhere to be found. It does run fast tho.

Have you tried "Search" from Start ?

try this... start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.
on most computers once you get in there you can pick a date that you want your computer reset to. Just pick a date that has a safe point. and when you know you still had the folder

Click START. Click SEARCH. Click "For Files Or Folders". Type in as much of the folder's name as you know.

Try this software, as it has worked for me. it is totally free, very easy to use and it will find most of your deleted files and folders.
