We recently acquired a new puppy and we are debating about making this animal an indoor/outdoor pet so I can take it to work with me. How often can/should the puppy be bathed and what type of shampoo should/can be used?

I have had many dogs, and we bathe them 1/week to every two weeks. but it also depends on the type of dog for how often you need to bathe them. you can't bathe them more or their skin gets dry. you can use Johnson and Johnsons baby shampoo - or depending on their skin - it it is sensitive - use oatmeal shampoo.

You can bathe them once a week if you use a high quality shampoo. I use a normal shampoo in the summer and an oatmeal formula in the winter (to help combat dry skin). I like the Desert Sudz brand that is carried at ryanspet.com, they are concentrated so you add water to it, which makes it easier to get the dog really clean plus it is cheaper. I would suggest the Desert Sudz Assortment pack (there are 3 to choose from), you get 4 shampoos, a remoisturizer (conditioner), and two mixing bottles for $10.99

You can safely bathe a dog about once every 2 weeks. Any more than that can dry his skin out and make him itch. As far as shampoo goes, there are many good products for you to choose from. Go to your local pet store and ask for a mild shampoo.

I always use "Baby Shampoo" because it has an ingredient in it that deadens the eyes so "NO More Tears" LOL I only bathe mine when they absolutely need it.But I groom,Brush ,Look,check for parasites etc. everyday.You can wash all the oils and beauty out if you bathe too much.Some dogs will always have an Oder that you cannot get rid of.An example is a hound,beagle,and Yorkies have oily ,stinker Oder you can not get rid of.Good Luck!!!!!!

use shampoo made for dogs which you can get from the vet or pet store. bath dog once every 4-6 months unkless she gets into somthing which would require you to bath sooner
