Someone asked me out for the first time, and I had to tell him I couldn't because my parents wouldn't let me. They never really said I couldn't, but it's implied... and I'm going to be 18!!! It's so unfair.

I know how you feel... i will be 18 soon and i have never gone on a date or even got close to going on one... my parents are very over protective of me... maybe your parents are the same... they may want to spare you the heartaches falling in love and dating may cause...
Whatever their reasons are its out of love

I know I'm 17 and I'm not able to have a boyfriend yet... or a date for that matter... But my mom said that once I were 18 I could...
I already have a boyfriend... But it is better when your parents know.. My parents don't know I have a boyfriend...
Sorry girl. I know how that feels... Maybe they know the guy and they think that he is not good for you, because let me tell you, most guys are Dogs, and they just want to take your pants off. But Thank God there are some good guys left... Talk to your parents and show them that you can handle dating...

Good Luck

I am personally rather underaged and does have a boyfriend. My parents know, but see him of more like a friend of mine than an actual boyfriend. We had a date on Christmas in Las Vegas since our families were both there for the holidays and were chaperoned by my parents. My parents were holding hands with each other and we just played it minimal by me pulling him around by the back of his hood (his sense of direction is horrible...).

Okay, that was off topic. My parents accept the idea of me and a boy liking each other and hanging out together, but they do not accept the idea of a boyfriend that is greatly official. I'm not too sure of what they meant by official however; maybe it stands for getting overphysical or rendering kissing.

I'm sure your parents won't mind if the two of you just act like hanging out.

(To Shelbz): I am thirteen myself. Heh. I posted some questions about dating here on Yahoo! Answers with my age revealed and the quantities of you-is-too-young lectures I got was exceptional. Almost as much as the answers stating disbelief in acknowledging that I type like a thirteen-year-old person.

Yeah my parents won't let me date unless they know the guy and know what hes all about. I guess its understandable, cause they are just looking out for me. But sometimes its just plain annoying. But your almost 18 ( that means your almost an adult) I think that your parents should be allowing you to date, most kids are dating at like 13 now.

Yeah, I hated it too. So I went behind my parents backs. Then my mom found out and she's kind of okay with it. However she gives me lectures every other day now. You can say yes to him but not go on any single dates with him... Just go with a bunch of friends and spend some time alone with him.

well, i'm 16 and i'm not allowed to go out on dates either but my parents say that when i'm 18 i can do whatever the hell i want...so yay!!! but i secretly meet my bf and tell my parents that i'm out with friends. if you feel your parents will say no DONOT tell them. trust me, i told mine and have regretted it ever since and now they just get soooo suspicious. i know its unfair but yeah life sucks you just gotta go after what you want and besides you're 18 and you can do whatever you want. i mean you're totally legal.
