NO! instead when she wets herself, take her into the bathroom, wash her clothes out and have her sit on the potty and wipe. tell her that you wish she would have told you that she had to potty. Tell her, "next time you have to pee-pee, tell me so that we can keep your pretty clothes clean and you can still wear them, instead of having to put them in the washer to get them clean again." dont ever spank a chikd you are ryin to potty train or they will always associate going to he bathromo iwth punishment. kids are little and take a while to let information sink in and get a hold of thier brains. its jst a slip up. dont get mad at her. be patient and understanding. remembe you had to be potty trained at one time toio!

I disagree with those that say spanking is abuse. Sometimes kids need a good swat on the behind when they deserve it. But, spankings should be left out of potty training. You want to give positive reinforcement, not negative attention. The reward system is great (candy, stickers, etc.) but make sure they understand this is just during the learning process and she should not expect a piece of candy every time she uses the toilet for the next 16 years. Accidents are part of the process, and should be recognized as just that: an accident. She didn't do it on purpose, and probably can't control it completely yet. Just convey to her that accidents happen and she'll do better next time. Clean it up and move on. Don't dwell on it. The best thing you can do is read books and magazine articles on the subject written by professionals. Keep them handy for reference when you need help. Those helped me a lot and my 3 year old is a successful potty-goer. Good luck!

Heavens NO! accidents are going to happen. That's like punishing them when they wet the bed, you can't do that. When she wets herself just sit her on the potty and see if she still needs to go, or you can try to put her on the putty say every 1/2 hour to every 2 hours and make sure she has training pants or pull ups on it will help on accidents. But everyone has accidents and potty training doesn't happen over night. Set up a rewards chart, give her stickers or suckers, when she does go to the bathroom without accidents. Why would you even ask such a question?

No. Accidents are accidents. Would you like to get spanked for wetting yourself (granted you are not into the kinky stuff)? Just remind your child that she needs to go on the potty and keep asking her if she has to go and take her to the potty. Girls usually train faster than boys, so it shouldn't be that bad. Try the Pull-Ups, those work great.

You are potty training your daughter the key word is (training) teaching her how too. If she wets on herself it is not her fault, you should not spank her because you will only make it harder for her.

What you have to do is be patient and give her time.. Good Luck to you!!!

I say no.Here is my theory: Have a case of M&Ms in a hidden spot (so your daughter doesn't sneak them). If your daughter tells you she needs to go potty then give her ONE M&M. If she wets herself and tells you that she went potty, don't give her anything and tell her,"Next time if you need to go potty tell Mommy and you will get a M&M!"It works like a charm.
