Leave the radio or TV on. I'd leave him at a window except that the draft at night wouldn't be good. Leave a mirror in his cage or where he can see one on the wall.

As long as the bird has fresh water it should be fine. Dont just leave an open bowl of water. I would try getting it used to using a watering tube. Put a mirror and some toys in the cage. It might actually help the bird to adapt to its new home. People tend to overwhelm a new bird when they get it, paying too much attention to it.

Can't you get someone you trust to come in and check on the bird? That is the best thing to do because the bird will need fresh water daily and probably food refill. Good Luck and have fun on your mini vacation.

That should be just fine. Besides leaving plenty of food and water, make sure the house will stay plenty warm. And maybe you could have a friend or neighbor stop by to check on him.

it will be perfectly fine
about a week after i got my parakeet, i had to go away for three days, and i left him behind, he didn't mind it at all, actually i think it was good because he got some peace and quiet, just put lots of food, and good water, and a mirror helps a lot, so he won't get so lonely, i have a mirror in my parakeets cage, and he talks with himself all day long
so yeah, don't worry about it
hope i helped : )

I WOULDN'T, I AM HOME ALL DAY EVERYDAY AND ALTHOUGH MY PARAKEETS ARE FINE, MY LOVEBIRDS BEAK GOT CAUGHT IN A BELL(THOSE THAT ARE ROUND WITH A CROSS SHAPED CUT IN THEM) I WAS COOKING DINNER AND WHEN I WENT TO CHECK ON HIM,HIS BEAK WAS STUCK AND HE WAS HANGING FROM IT, HE ALSO GOT A PIECE OF STRING(FROM A ROPE TOY) WRAPPED AROUND HIS WING AND LEG. I KNOW HE IS ESPECIALLY CLUMSY, BUT WHY TAKE CHANCES. PARAKEETS ARE EQUALLY CURIOUS AS ANY OTHER BIRD(IF NOT MORE) SO IF YOU MUST LEAVE CONSIDER WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF HE IS ON HIS OWN.

Yes, I have done it when we went away for three days. I just put in two or three food and water bowls for one parakeet and cleaned the cage before I left.

Well...when I had my parakeet, I had somebody come and feed him every other day, other than that he was fine. I'm not sure though because some bids can get out of their cages easily. My bird loved to excape, we had to duct tape the door XDD!!

I'm sorry but i totally disagree with everyone who has posted it isnt ok to leave any bird alone on its own for 3 days,
If you had someone check on it time to time maybe. but what if it got itself caught on a toy? or something went wrong?
No one would notice and it could die.
To the RSPCA over here in the uk i think that would be classed as neglect.
Anyway its your choice

i wouldn't do it. i have 3 parakeets and we are going on vacation in 3 days. i have to leave mine with a friend. if you have their cage near a window the sun could get to them and they could overheat. i would try asking a responsible friend to birdie sit for you. p.s have a nice trip! :)
