Putting aside the "is this statement racist of not" argument and looking at the issue from a less inflammatory point of view I would still have to say no. There is no reason that we need to only have one official language. When you set something as an official language all that REALLY means is that government documentation is printed in that language and people can submit those languages for legal documents. It doesn't mean (unless in some tyrannical Nazi-ish society) that people will suddenly stop speaking their languages and will only speak your language, it just means that it will raise costs for interpreters and impede access for citizens to do things like pay their taxes or vote. English is already the language primarily taught in schools; this is really an unnecessary move with negative implications.

Other countries have multiple language for instance South Africa (post-apartheid) has I believe over 19 official languages.

If you are worried that the Anglo-European influence won't allow for multiple languages then perhaps you should look at New Zealand which has Maori and English as their official languages.

Or perhaps the European Union which has at my last count 5 official language (not a country but a unified body to say the least).

We as a nation need to stop thinking that we live inside a bubble. When over 1/4 of the world speaks Latin based languages (primarily Spanish) and most countries teach their children multiple language we are doing ourselves a dis-service by trying to weed out other languages and cultures and only allow English. We would really just be shooting ourselves in the foot in regards to dealing with international affairs.

Yes, the US has no "official" language. English (or some language) should be made official, and it should have happened long before now. The senator from Hawaii, proposed this some years ago, and unfortunately, people laughed at him.

yes English should be our official language. if we go to any other country, we have to learn their language. our country and tax payers would save so much money by putting all documents in one language. then all that want to be here would have to speak same language as we do. to do any business in any other country you have to speak and read their language.
