Im getting married at march 2007...I would like to know different kind of habits/traditions, what we could use in our weddings. Im not originally from Usa so it is really hard for me to know anything about these things,my culture is so different. We are gonna mix and match both of our heritage, but how to do it, I dont know? Thank you:)

Heritage is a-ok. A few U.S. traditions include wearing something new, something borrowed and something blue. Placing one shiny new penny in your wedding shoe for good luck. Forbidding the bride from seeing the groom up until the moment she walks down the aisle. Ringing a small bell at the beginning of the ceremony to honor close relatives who have passed on (for instance, the bride's mother, father or grandparents). Remembering that if it rains on your wedding day it is good luck. Congratulations and best wishes to you!

You can choose to do what you are comfortable with.
First, where is the wedding to take place? The reception?
Are you wanting to do the raditional white dress? Bridal party?
I suppose it's hard to say, cuz I don't know your cultural background. What is his cultural background? You could involve the parents and get "opinions"...or even siblings if any.
Who is the person performing the ceremony. Sometimes there are restrictions with those individuals.

I've helped with many weddings that have mixed cultures invovled, including my own. My husband's family is from Japan! What are the cultures of you and your fiance. It's alot easier to give examples of crossing/mixing them if we know what they are. For example, in Japanese culture they have a Saki Toast, so after we finished lighting our unity candle (an American tradition) we had a Saki Toast. Also, we served foods at our receptiont hat were from both cultures, it was a great way of showing we are both proud of our culture, and allowed our friends and family to sample foods from mine/my husbands cultures. Along with many other small details we added in with Japanese traditions, like white paper cranes at each place setting and hanging in the trees with white lights, (a Japanese Tradition to have 2000 of them around yur wedding venue). Another site that is great is www.theknot.com and www.weddingchannel.com. I used them both alot for my wedding!
I found alot of the cultures by talking with his Grandmother and Great Aunts, who are all from Japan, and was able to gather alot of knowledge that way, but some of it was kept from them, in order to surprise them on the big day! ANother way I found traditions, was siply by Google Searching "Japanese Wedding Traditions". You would be amazed at the articles you can find featuring all different types of wedding traditions. Good luck, IM me if you would like to chat more!

this is the best...In America everyone loves to clang the glasses with the untensils to make you guys kiss. At my wedding when they started that, we had the DJ tell them if they wanted us to kiss, their whole table had to come up to the dance floor and sing a song acapella to us. Then we would kiss. Doesn't what song, it is so much fun. They will do it trust me. Try it out.
