Ok, first of all calm down.
I had all four of mine taken out at the same time so I've had the experience. And I hate needles too.

There is a product called "Elma" cream. This will numb the area that's going to have the needle. I've got an Autistic son who's terrified of needles also, and it's helped a great deal. Ask your surgeon about it. It has to be applied 1 hour prior to getting an injection or have an needle incerted. And it numbs well.

I didn't dream and I was knocked out in mere seconds.
If you're nervous, have someone with you.

Also, after all the surgery is done, follow the care instructions. I got dry socket from mine, which hurts like hell. But you can avoid that by following instructions to the T. If it's been a few days, and your the hole starts hurting...talk to your dentist. If it is dry socket, they can fix that with a numbing liquid while it heals.

Even if you do drive, don't drive that day. Have someone take you. You'll not be able to drive that day.

Also, you might want to prepare some foods before hand, because chances are you're not going to feel like cooking. You'll want liquids and soft or blended food. My mom purreed some mac-n-cheese when I had mine out. It's going to be difficult to eat for a few days, but you'll get the hang of it. Also, don't forget the jars of babyfood. Fruits are pretty good. It's wierd, but heck..forget being embarrised, you'll need your strength. And no one is going to look at you wierd if you buy a few jars of babyfood.

My aunt suggested jello that's been disolved. You drink it warm and liquidy, not solid. If you're not diabetic, the sugars in it help a little.

I understand just how you feel, when you go into the room where you will be put under,'' they will set you in your lounge chair they then will ask how are you feeling or ask if you have had any food or drink in the last 12 hours there will be 2 maybe 3 persons in the room with you, one of which will more then likely be a female, this will be your dentist'' assistance or his helper she is there to help him and you. She might ask you if you are nervous or scared just be honest with her and your dentist and they will make you feel as comfortable and relax ted as I'm sure you will be when it is time for your dentist to come in he or she will ask you a few things,''like count back words 10-0 or say the alphabets from z-a next thing you know it's all over with and you didn't wake up or even feel a thing, and as far as dreaming go's i didn't, but maybe you'll be lucky and have a wonder full dream. So be strong as i know you are and it will be over in no time.

Ok, no need to be afraid of getting put "under" You will not be able to feel the needle as you will get used to it. You will quickly fall asleep. You will not dream, as this is DEEP DEEP sleep. It is impossible to wake up as long as the tube stays in and their is enough IV fluid (which of course if it's a professional there is) I was put out 1 month ago, my teeth grew in wrong and the baby teeth didn't fall out. The wierd thing is, my mom did it. She is an oral surgeon. It was done in 20 minutes and I got to miss school!

Don't worry..had the same thing. They use 'conscious' sedation. Don't let the word conscious fool you. You won't remember a thing. They use a drug to cause amnesia for a short period. It will also make you sleep. You prob. won't even remember falling asleep. I have had I.V. 'sedation' at the dentist for wisdom teeth and at the hospital for vein surgery. Did not wake up for any of them. It works Very quickly. Usually versed. (may also have 2 other meds with it) No dreams for me. I remember it starting..and then 'it's over' wake up. Will feel a little groggy for about 20mins. Have to get your 'sea legs' back. You'll be fine! Good Luck!

It will be quite simple, you will be out like a lighting flash, you won't feel a thing. When you wake up. it is like you never went to sleep, time passes fast. I had mine done that way and would not do it no other way. It does not hurt as much either after it's all over with. Have you some ice cream, Popsicle's and cold jello ready for when you get home and get hungry..Good Luck.

hello

if you are afraid of needles ask them to give you something to breathe through a mask, and then once you are asleep have them put their IV in that way you dont feel it. anywho if they put you out with an IV you wont feel anything. because once they start putting the medicine through the line you are asleep instantaneously. you do not dream while you are under anesthesia. when you wake up you will be extremely tired.

It is the best sleep you will ever have. One minute you are sitting in the chair and they are telling you to count backwards, the next minute they are waking you up and telling you that everything is over. After you are awake and the anesthesia begins to wear off, you may feel a little nauseous.

i had no choice but to stay awake for my operations - my body carmelizes anesteisia or something, i'm not exactly sure what, but apparently i'm 1 in 8 similar cases in the USA or something. it felt good getting them out anyway, the only part that hurt was the stitches and the healing. (for my second set that got taken out, i asked for no stitches, and healed just fine)

but for your case, don't worry about being put out - you don't honestly realize that you're about to fall asleep, it just happens.

while you are asleep, they'll be able to tell if you're going to wake up soon, and they'll give you more of whatever is putting you down

Don't get to worried about it. It's not a big deal at all. I had mine taken out and I was awake for the whole thing. The worst pain comes when/if you get dry-sockets...(THOSE SUCK!!!)
