True religion is the way that God reaches down and touches people through others. James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, is to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep himself unspotted from the world. These are some of the ways that God shows us that he is real. When Jesus Christ died for us to take away our sin he showed us God's love for us. If a person's religion is pure then it will reveal God's love for man and point to the truth, otherwise it's just another way to cause conflict between people.

Respect, in my book, has to be earned. It's not an automatic right, just because a religion exists. What respect would any person feel obliged to give to a religion that was full of evil, encouraging and practicing wicked deeds? Believe it or not, there are millions of people around today who DO respect just such religions and engage proudly in them. It is not true that all religions stem from the one deity, otherwise there would only be one religion! If one deity spawned all the thousands of religions, he must be a god of utter confusion and contradiction.

It is true, of course, that the love of God constrains believers to be loving and gracious towards others, even those who mock and persecute them. That is the highest respect that can be shown. It should never be mixed up with agreeing with differing beliefs / practices and never criticising them. That does not prove respect. But whenever religious people start trying to stop others from voicing their beliefs or practicing them, then any veneer they might have given of showing respect disappears. The reason for this intolerance is usually a combination of ignorance, fear, and mis (or even dis-)information. Invariably there are leaders stirring up hatred, hoping to foment trouble, so that they can get more control and power. The people under their control sadly like to feel superior to others - this makes them feel more secure - and more maleable. "We all like sheep have gone astray..." the prophet Isaiah said. Too true.

Religion is not the problem -- it's the fanatics who take it to the extreme. Christianity is a religion of peace, yet the it has produced group after group of extremists (Crusades, Inquisition, Holocaust). Islam is also a religion of peace, yet some Muslim mothers encourage their young children to become homicide bombers in order to kill and maim innocent people.

Sometimes it is very difficult to "respect" religions that produce these fanatics, so we must remind ourselves that they are not in the majority! Thank God for that!

In a battle among religions for money and members, some people will take any competitive advantage, even using dirty tactics, slander and outright lies.

According to one US godbot loser:

"Well, I would have to say as a Christian that I believe any belief system, any world view, whether it's Zen Buddhism or Hinduism or dialectical materialism for that matter, Marxism, that keeps persons captive and keeps them from coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, yes, is a demonstration of satanic power."
- Albert Mohler Jr., president of the Southern Bastards - oops, Baptist - Theological Semenary - oops, Seminary - March 17 2006

Anyone who is not a fundamentally retarded christianazi is a satanist, including those who do not believe there is a satan. 9_9 If Murder - oops, Mohler - can claim that, then I guess I can claim that he and all christians are pedophiles (since some catholic priests are) and they are also all KKK members and Nazis (since both groups are christian).

That is a good question. A lot of people on this forum are constantly attacking Islam or Christianity or other faiths. Just stop it! They are all from the same God.

There's only one God. In Latin He's called Deus, in Arabic Allah, but in English God. Let's just worship this one God. Let us acknowledge that all religions come from the same God. Let us acknowledge that we are all from the same human family. Baha'u'llah wrote:

"The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens."
