What's the best kind of hair brush for thick hair that's easily tangled so as not to damage it?

Look for long bristled with large space(1'4 to 1'2 inch) in between bristles. Not only will it untangle, but it will do so with less damage and pain. Works great on dry or wet hair.

Brushes actually damage the hair. You need a wide tooth comb. When your hair is wet, comb it slow and soft. Your hair is 50% more weaker when it's wet. That's where a lot of breakage occurs. Plus, try and keep as much heat off the hair as possible. When washing your hair, rinse your hair with cool water. Let it air dry as much as possible. Hope this helps ya :)

Any brush with a big round or rectangle barrel (which is the back of the brush above the handle).

I like Conair, they have many different types of brushes and a huge selection of styles and colors. Goody and Scunci also have good brushes.
