The exectution has been planned and timed to cause as much unrest as possible.
The more trouble and disrepect shown to the followers of Saddam and their extreme views, the more likely trouble will show its head, the more likely Bush and his pupeteers will say 'We can't leave now, look they're still causing trouble'.
The irony? The real extremist trouble makers invaded a country and continue to repress a people.

Well for starters, it is the new Iraqi government which is executing him, not George Bush. If you actually read these stories, you will see that Hussein's lawyers are asking that he be kept in US custody. As to whether it is deliberate timing on the part of the Iraqi court system--possibly. Again, if you actually read some of these stories, a lot of Shi'ites are already warming up for the celebration of his death, so yes, maybe they do see a bit of poetic justice in the timing. That's their business.
Further, I do not see that Hussein was a hypocrite--he made no pretense at being anything other than a blood-thirsty monster with no regard for human life--except his own--and no loyalty except to his own tribe and home village. The only hypocricy from hom has been in the last few days of his grandstanding, trying to make himself a martyr for Iraq, rather than a mass-murderer who is finally receiving justice at the end of a rope--which will certainly be a more merciful death than most of those he inflicted on his subjects.
And in what way is Bush a hypocrite? Even if you disagree with the man, he believes in what he is doing.

No, the timing of Saddam's death was for the 2006 Elections. They (the Republicans and te Bush Administration under its influence) annouced TWO days before the elections that Hussien was to be executed. Many believe that this was done to garner more votes for the Republican candidates in the elections.
I doubt 95% of the American population even knows what Eid ul-Adha is...

but why, T101, bush is considering this as his duty? when this is the matter of Iraq and Iraqi ppl, who is he to decide the fates? why he doesn't just concentrate on the insecurity that the Americans are having after his stupid and unlawful decisions. why not the president of Russia or France or Pakistan worried for Saddam as much as Bush is.
and the Asker... u r right, its somewhat humiliating to hang him b4 Eid.

Iraqi laws say he has to die within 30 days. I think it is best to get it done with, personally, I think it is more humane then the guys who sit on death row for 10-20 years etc.
