I'm a college student trying to make some extra money legally. I'm 18 and looking to become a bartender. How should I go about doing this? Can I take an online bartending course? How much does it cost?

You can be 18 and bartend if I'm not mistaken. You can sell alcohol when you're 18 by Texas law.

The legal age to serve alcohol is indeed 18. I advise however to find a job that will allow you to stay focused on your studdies. Bartending, looks easy but is not. Going to school alone you have to learn over 200 drinks in a very short time and you have to remember them to be good what you do. Not to mention the fact that after the bar closes and the drunks leave, you have to clean up, account for every ounce that went over the bar, every penny that came back, and close out. Are you interested in going to class on a couple hours of sleep? Bartending is not an easy gig. You're an 18 year old guy. Multi-tasking probably isn't a strong card you should be trying to play. Get a paper route.

Look in your local area, most cities have Bartender classes, if not and you are good at memorizing things just buy a bartenders guide and learn the drinks. Go to parties and practice making them for your friends. Other than that all you need is a good attitude and an outgoing personality.

And don't listen to the moron who said there is no future in it, they obviously can't read and missed the point of your question.

Then i finished up turning out to be a bartender who at times waitressed while mandatory. Small self sufficient relatives eating places provide you a spoil like that. in spite of the fact that a chum of mine utilized at Applebees to be a bartender devoid of experience. She had to memorize over one thousand recipes, then have an instantaneous attempt. that they had randomly throw her drink orders and she or he'd would desire to lead them to. She handed and have been given employed!
