I lost 60 pounds in about a year and I have extra skin around my stomach I was wondering how long it takes for the extra skin to go away, if in fact it does go away.

Depending on how much skin you MUST exercise to get rid of it. It will not go away on its own. As the person above me stated there is alway's surgery however with some sit-ups or running you can make it go away oh and lot's of water. '-)

Exercise is the best way to firm up, and would have been more beneficial if you had exercised as you lost your 60 pounds. I met a gal who lost over 100 pounds (without drugs or surgery) and she didn't have any extra skin, and was over 50 years old. She said she exercised, walking, lifting weights and doing aerobics. It's do-able, and with the right amount of exercises, it might take as much time to firm up as it did losing those 60 pounds. Some people never lose the extra skin, so it's possible you might either have to live with it, or have it surgically removed. I'm hoping that the exercise will work. It's worth a try. Sorry to say, that the skin doesn't go away. It's weird since you're saying you lost 60 pounds on a year, if that's true then you lost it nice and slowly, it shouldn't have left extra skin. You can try doing weights if its not too much extra skin. But the only remedy is surgery.

If it's still there after the weight-loss than it probably won't go away on it's own... or with diet and exercise. Talk to your doctor about your options. I think it would require surgery. CONGRATULATIONS on losing 60 POUNDS!! That's no small feat! You should be very proud of yourself.

Best wishes.
