Become an atheist and leave the debate behind.

you might find life easier in the U.S. if you do.

the way I look at it, you believe what you believe, and there is no choice in the matter. you can educate yourself in hopes of coming up with a more correct guess.

Christianity is incorrect, as is muslim. The virtues prescribed by each are good, and you would do well to follow (most of) them. In reality, there is no reason to believe in a God, that is to say that there is no evidence at hand that would cause us to postulate the existence of a god.

I recommend something like secular humanism, or a sort of atheist agnosticism.. you are certain there is no god, but you are also certain that a person cannot know that for sure, just as a person cannot know anything for sure due to the fact that the mind is fallible.

As for your family, you should make it clear that these choices are up to them. You should also try to talk them into believing what you believe, if you think that is helpful.

I would recommend that if you are so easy to jump off the Sunni bandwagon that being a Muslim is not for you. Take that knowledge and discover what else is out there. To convert to Christianity is jumping out of the fire into the frying pan. Why don't you look into Tao or Buddhism, they too have answers, but not from a book, they teach you to find the voice of God within you and not to take the word of God from the mouth of a man.

I am a Methodist minister -

I think that Truth (with a capital T) is Truth. You have to follow the Truth as you know it and as it has been revealed to you, in your heart, from God. If that means that you find Truth in Christianity, convert... but do not do so for the wrong reasons.

Being a Christian means being a believer in the God of the Jews as described in the ancient Jewish scriptures (The Old Testament) and also that He has sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for the sins of mankind (yours included) and then resurrected from the dead after His crucifixion, as revealed by the writings of the New Testament. In short, to believe that the Bible is the Holy Spirit-inspired word of the true and living God, and that literal interpretation of the holy scriptures is the only way to properly understand life, godliness, and the way to receive eternal life.

"Righteousness" means being in right standing with God the Father by believing in Jesus Christ His Son. This is evidenced by a righteous lifestyle (acts and deeds that are pleasing to God). Righteousness in the Bible refers to both. In the Old Testament, the term refers more often to doing righteous deeds.

Here are some scriptures from the Bible regarding salvation:

John 3:16

God loves you very much. He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for your sins. He did not do this to lay a guilt trip on you, but to pay the price for your salvation. He wants you to be saved that much.

II Peter 3:9

God does not want you to go to hell. He wants everyone to come to Him through Jesus.

Romans 10:9-10

To be saved, it is very easy. All you have to do is believe in your heart that Jesus Christ the Son of God died for your sins, and that God raised Him from the dead. Once you believe this in your heart, you say it with your mouth - and God does all the rest.

Ephesians 2:8-9

He saves us by His power (grace) and it is not something that we can earn or deserve with our good deeds. It is a gift that He freely gives to anyone that wants to receive it.

II Corinthians 5:17

Anyone that has believed that Jesus Christ took their sins away on the cross becomes a new person on the inside (this is reffered to as the "New Birth.") Your old life ceases to exist, and you become a brand new person on the inside, with a new life to live with God! You may look the same on the outside, but on the inside you are changed.

Make sure to share your decision to follow Jesus Christ with someone else who believes. You will want to go to a church where the people love God and preach the things that the Bible says.

This is the best thing anyone could ever decide to do with their life!

Only if you believe in what they tell you as for your family that's their choice, not yours. Beware of false religion, i'm a christian or claim to be, and hell even i'm skeptical about the religion that i practice. Plus it's more about living decently and kindly lovingly and truthfully. The only way i've been told to be a christian is this i'm the way the truth and the light all those who believe in me shall not perish but have everlasting life then you get baptised. and yadda yadda yadda.

Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father and God the Father calls us to himself one person at a time. If you were to accept Jesus into your heart your family would be sanctified in your marriage, but each would have to go to God on his own for salvation.

I think you would be helped tremendously if you talked to a Catholic priest. So go see the priest in your parish. First you need to know then you can decide

1. I must realize that in my present condition I am a sinner bfore God. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3.23.)
2. I cannot save myself from eternal punishment in hell "For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord: (Romans 6:23)
3. Christ has paid for my sins and my punishment with His death on the cross. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus should not perish, but have everlasting life: "(John 3:16)
4. I must accept His crucififixion as payment for my sins, personally. "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13)
If you would like to have assurance of eternal life, then pray this prayer: "Lord, I know I am a sinner. I believe Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins. Please forgive me of my sins and make me a new person. I commit my life to you today. Amen,"
If you prayed this prayer you can send for Dr. Stanley's booklet, "The Only Door to Heaven." www.intouch.org.
When you are saved, you are sealed with God's Holy Spirit for eternity. You cannot loose your salvation because you are now adopted into the family of God.
It is important to find a bible teaching church and become part of the body of Christ to help you grow in your walk with the Lord. Read the Bible daily. You will find it easier to understand if you read it with a daily devotional magagine such as The Daily Bread or In Touch by Dr. Charles Stanley, which is on line at the above web site. Set at time aside daily to talk to God in prayer. Your prayers should include 1. Affirmation of God's character, confession, thanksgiving and supplication. (ACTS). If your church is a bible teaching church, they should practice believers baptism. You should be baptized out of obedience to Christ, but it is not required before salvation, but should be done after you become a believer.
