He saw my friend and I goofing around in a chat room and thought that we were flirting. I was trying to explain it to him but he didn't want to listen. He still won't listen to me. I don't know what to do now.

If he won't listen, there may be other reasons for the break-up. Is this just his way of breaking up and putting the "blame" on you? Is he this jealous.... if so, you may need to be the one thinking about leaving.

you can explain as much and as manytimes as you like, but from the sounds of it he won't listen. it sounds like he is using this as an excuse to break up with you, if you two have a really strong relationship you guys would have been able to work it out and talk about it.
just let him go and move on,

Maybe he has his reasons. he is jealous of your friend. or if he does not trust you anymore these is his way out.
