i live in the country and when i go up in the bush about 10 minutes up a hill, there is a well that was probably from indians or somthing. it looks like a spring there used to be a mossy concrete cylender over (like a well), its gone now. i'm thinkings its a spring well because its always there, every season all the time. it has leaves in it, but if i take it out, will it be clean to drink? it looks so clear and pure, my dog loves to drink from it, lol.

Dogs I have known (and had) have been known to drink from the toilet! So I'm not so sure I'd use a dog to determine whether or not water is "fit" to drink.
The safest thing to do is to take a sample and have it tested. Just because it looks "clean" doesn't mean that it's potable! Even then, there may be things that can still pollute it. Boiling water or using purification tablets is a sure way to prevent water-borne diseases.
Be careful! Remember the old saw: "Better safe than sorry."

It may be clean, but you should collect some in a clean bottle and take or send it to a water testing lab to verify that before you drink it yourself. Just to be safe.

You should have an expert examine the well before you drink the water. In an emergency you should at LEAST boil the water.

You shouldn't drink any water without it being tested first or purified. You can purchase purification tablets for water when you are hiking, but it is preferable to take water with you.

a lot of water may actually have ecoli in it and you shouldn;t drink it. you could wet your mouth but don't take long drinks...if you boil it for a few minutes, you could drink in confidence
