I really like the following:
Islam
Wicca/paganism/witchcraft
Judaism
Buddhism
Taoism
Confucianism
And there's a bunch more.
I wish I could be all of them, but some don't mix with each other and some require a lifetime of study and loyalty.
Please tell me how I can choose or why you chose your religion.

Here's the thing... you need to decide where you stand on Truth. If someone thing is true, then whether you believe it or not makes zero material difference. Does it matter to you whether you choose the "true religion" or do you just want to find the one that makes you feel the best about yourself and so on.

I notice you don't list Christianity... but if I were you, I'd look into that. I have personally found Christ to be the answer to my questions and He has given me purpose and direction, as well as the assurance of heaven when I die. You should read the Gospel of John in the New Testament, it will give you a flavour of who Jesus really was and what He stood for. That way, you don't have to take the word of someone like me who you don't know and can't possibly trust since you don't really know me at all!

Go to the source. If you don't have a Bible of your own, you can read it online at the website below.

God bless.

Thanks for the book suggestion "niceperson44". I'll have to take a look for that one.

And good question "iloveeverythang". It's a question I puzzle over all the time in my own life.

Have you ever tried attending a Unitarian Universalist church? I've found it very relaxing, to put it one way... very satisfying... What can I say - take a look at the main website, and maybe there's a church in your area: http://www.uua.org/ It's not Christian - but not anti-Christian. The basic "belief" is that everything goes. This is from their website:

"With its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion -- that is, a religion that keeps an open mind to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason should be the final authorities in religion, and that in the end religious authority lies not in a book or person or institution, but in ourselves. We are a "non-creedal" religion: we do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed.

Our congregations are self-governing. Authority and responsibility are vested in the membership of the congregation. Each Unitarian Universalist congregation is involved in many kinds of programs. Worship is held regularly, the insights of the past and the present are shared with those who will create the future, service to the community is undertaken, and friendships are made. A visitor to a UU congregation will very likely find events and activities such as church school, day-care centers, lectures and forums, support groups, poetry festivals, family events, adult education classes and study groups."

I hope this is of interest to you! If you'd like to message me, I'm kellenor111 on Yahoo.

Despite what certain people say, there is no "best religion" or one "right" religion. All of them have basic principles... do no harm, don't lie, that sort of thing. Many of them believe in an afterlife. It is possible to incorporate the beliefs and practices of many religions into your own life if you feel you should, rather than adhere strictly to just one. There's beauty to be found in all of them.

I'm sure I'll get plenty of thumbs down from the Xtians for saying that.

I follow Buddhism except for that part about not harming any sentinent being. I can't shake the need for the occasional steak or to swat flies in my kitchen. I chose it because it is non-theistic and is more of a philosophy than a "worship me or burn" way of thinking. I also believe a man named Jesus walked this earth spreading a philosophy of love and acceptance and I admire him greatly. (I could do without his fan club though)

anybody is often born into the religion of their mothers and fathers, and picture of it as a organic portion of their lives. people who "belong" to a faith is in simple terms about consistently people who're born in an atmosphere have been the religion has many followers, or have families who belong to the religion.

Religion is man trying to appease God so he may be accepted of him so he can get into heaven or be delivered from hell. However, this is IMPOSSIBLE God is not impressed with our good works. He's God! God made a plan for how we can be saved, and it is by his grace that through our faith in His son Jesus Christ who was sinless died for the sins of the whole world. (Read the book of John and Romans in the KJV Bible.)

It sounds like what you're looking for is a hobby, something to do not something you actually believe in. If you're trying to find peace either within yourself or with "higher powers" (God). You will not find it in "religion" but by SALVATION. Real peace comes with being right with God read the books of first and second Thessalonians in the Bible.

Wicca is not a religion, it is a cult which does not believe in God

The best religion is the one your soul feels comfortable with. Mine is more comfortable with the ideals and beliefs of the pagan and Buddhist paths. But that is a druids opinion. I study all of them and find that many actually have great similarities.

the only major differences between one Religion and another are the Rituals and Ceremonies they use to Adore, Honor, Worship, Pray to and Petition, Thank, Etc. GOD. GOD is to big to be in only one place and there are many paths and ways to get to ones destination. one can walk, ride a bike, a motorcycle, take a train, a plane, a bus, etc. and still arrive where one wants to go. getting there is the important thing -- not how. follow what you believe in your own heart to be true and you can't be totally wrong.

Try Christianity! Look for Jesus. He's looking for you.
Check out Jesse Duplantis ministries on TV. He's funny, but will
show you the way. Check out John Hagee,Joyce Meyer. They are all on TBN Christian TV stations. The 700 club on CBN. Give them a listen before you turn the other way. Majority of the world is Christian. All of us can't be wrong.
