If he's really a champion, then he likely comes from a good breeder. They should be able to tell you what you need to know, what health clearances you need etc.
Remember, the faults of the puppies are ALWAYS blamed on the stud dog. Never allow him to be used on a bit ch that's not top quality.

Since your Bloodhound is a Champion, you have had him out to dog shows. Typically the owners of the females will seek YOU out if you have a male that can bring something great to the breeding. Take a good look at your boy and evaluate his strengths and weaknesses. Run the requisite health tests for Bloodhounds once he is old enough. Check with your breed's AKC Parent Club for guidelines on what to check for. If your dog is clean medically, is a nice representation of the breed and maybe has some outstanding qualities, the girls should beat a path to his door! You may have to show him now and then as a Special - especially at National Specialties. Also advertise in national breed magazines. That will get his "look" out there for consideration!

If it's an AKC champion and it's hips check out and any breed specific things are good and it's got a good pedigree, try networking with others in your breed. Keep campaigning him in the meantime. I bred dogs when I used to show them and other breeders and I would swap stud services or buy stud services from each other.
Once your dog has produced pups and if the pups are excellent then you can think about advertising him. I'd wait and see what he actually produces first.

Well first of all, you need to find out what type of health testing needs to be done. Many breeds require OFA's on hips, eye tests, cardica ultrasounds etc. These are all done to ensure your dog does not have a genetic disease. Theoretically, if your dog came from a reputably breeder than the parents would have had any necessary testing done.
Secondly, you need to find out if your dog is a good representative of the breed in both type (conformation) and temperment. As such, you need to either show your dog to get it's championship or title the dog in working events; an example of a working event would be tracking (scent). If you have not done those things, then you should not be breeding.
Thirdly, you should be in contact with the person you purchased the dog from. That person should act as a mentor and guide. Not all dogs, even from good bloodlines, should be bred. And good temperment alone or wanting one of his puppies is not a good reason.

Special him, get some BOBs and group placements, get him seen. Take him to specialties, especially the national.
Generally, the ***** owners go looking for the stud, the stud owners don't go looking for the bitches.
Get the appropriate health tests done now. Check out shows, many have clinics for eyes, hearing, and heart testing, and it will be much cheaper.
Another option would be to lease a ***** to use him on. But most breeders are not going to allow you to do this unless you know people and have shown yourself to be serious and trustworthy. Get out there and get to know people in your breed, this is not a good place to be looking, it is mostly pet owners.

Contact your breeder or Vet. Our breeder lives 4+ hours from here. We got our vet and other Vets in the area. Once word gets out you are breeding your dog and others see the puppies. You will have people contacting you.

The breeder you got the dog from is the resource for this information.
If you advertise in the paper, or on the internet....you have a crap dog that is not worth breeding.

My family breeds schnuazers, they have studs, and females for studs. They started with the newspaper, and told friends to tell other friends, and they even made a personalized brochure about their breeding biz.
