Shihtzus do tend to get dark tear stains under their eyes, most people I know who are owners have had this problem. Theres no real way to stop it, but you can gently and carefully wipe under their eyes with a damp cloth to clean the area.

They weight between 9-16 lbs healthily depending on how much they are fed and how much excercize they get. They are generally rather small dogs, but if yours weights a bit more then this average dont worry because some shihtzus can be larger (i have a friend who has one whos around 23 lbs on a normal healthy diet... shes simply a big dog).

If youre worried about your dogs weight you can talk to you vet, or simply look at her. You can usually tell if a dog is overweight, and if shes active and appears healthy I wouldnt worry about it too much.

Hope this helps.

Alot of small and toy breeds get those tear stains. Sometimes just cleaning it will not go away. Ask your local pet store to see if they have tear stain remover. It's a special cleanser that you just use a cotton ball and swipe it on and it helps.
