pnuemonia is most certainly contagious if it is bacterial pnuemonia. Viral pnuemonia is more of an inflammatory situation and not so contagious, but it too can be transmitted to those with a poor immune status.

Pneumonia is a condition in which a lung fills with fluid. It can be caused by many diseases, most of which are contagious but rarely cause the condition. Many bacteria can cause it, but typically only those with weak immune systems will develop pneumonia, like babies, old people, or people with AIDS. There are also viral causes, like the flu.

Yes! It is highly contagious. I know because I almost died from viral pnemonia when I was a baby. I caught it from a blanket at a photographers.
