I'm an atheist and I will admit to the lie. People used to ask me all the time and said that I did believe, just to fit in. It's just peer pressure and wanting to please people no matter how ridiculous.
Yes, I finally accepted that I just don't believe in god.

I suppose some people lie about what they believe. Some people will lie saying they believe because they want to be more acceptable in some social circles. Others will lie claiming to be atheists, because they want to be "cool. However I believe in most cases, we should just take people at their word. There would normally be no reason to lie about something like that - not in North america anyway.

To believe in any kind of after life even reincarnation ,spirits or supreme beings in a way is believing in god.To be a true atheists then you can only believe that when you die you are dead and there is no coming back. Many people claim to be atheists and praise Satan. If someone dos`nt believe in God they just plain die.

I can accept it if someone doesn't believe. As long as they're respectful. I can't stand atheists that want to belittle my beliefs.
Don't lie about what you believe. Be honest. I understand that some atheists are pressured by members of their family or town into saying something they don't hold true, but stand your ground.
But God loves you.

What about lying about lying about the existence of god. Like if I say I was lying but really I'm lying about lying... but maybe that too is a lie.
Wow... I need to lie down.

Actually, I think many religious people lie about a belief in god, for fear of rejection from their community.

Maybe they're getting "athiests" and "agnostics" confused.
Either way, religious people think everyone should believe the same things you do. It's that closed minded attitude that turned me off church when I was a teenager.

That's fine if you don't believe. But many try too hard to prove so. That to me means something is up. I don't need to justify my beliefs over and over. Some seem to greatly have this need.
