I have droped 4 dress sizes within a year. I exercise 4-5 times per week 45 min, of cardio plus 30-45 min. of weights and resistance training. I eat very healthy, 2000 calories per day and burn 500-700 at the gym. I am loosing the inches but not the weight. I've been to the Doctor and was told not to worry and continue my healthy life stlye. Is there anyone who has had the same experience?

Have you checked your body fat content? There are simple (caliper) measurements and tables you can consult. For most people, weight correlates to fat - but if you're within the norm for fat for your age, then what you've got is MUSCLE and that's AWESOME!

Maybe you're just big... but take it from this guy, big or small, a woman in that kind of shape is HOT!

Health-wise, there shouldn't be any concerns. Some women who work out intensively stop having periods (amenorrhea) - which may be a sign you're overdoing it.

But if everything else is okay (blood pressure, body fat, etc.) you should feel good for the level of fitness you've accomplished.

As for the rest of the answers to your question - take them with a grain of salt. Many of them are simply wrong (or even dangerous.)

Well This Could Be A Health Problem...... And Also Lose The Weight Before Doing "weights and resistance training" That Will Make You A Few Extra Pound's Of Muscles To Go With The Fat Which Will Make You Seem Bigger. When You Go To The Gym Dont Do Thing's To Build Muscles! Jogging Is A Good Idea!

Yes, I've had very similiar experience. The bottom line is that muscle weighs more than fat, so as you build muscle, before burning all the fat, your weight does seem to go up. Nutrition plays a huge role, too. You might want to check out the organic vegan raw diet--you can eat as much as you want and you'll be sure to get all your nutrition, and it'll support a speedy metabolism!

im a guy but i think that if you do less weights when you are at the gym and play basketball insteat that would help out a lot. try to play sports because the cardio at the gym can get boring. eat less red meat so you stop building muscle mass. you probably have a lot of muscle mass you just do cardio activites and eventually you will get smaller. its not about how much you weight but how you look so keep that in mind

Consult a fitness expert or maybe see a new doctor to see why you are not losing weight. If you are losing the inches, maybe you are gaining muscle in place of the fat. You may possibly receive a result such as the one you are describing. Have other tests done such as percent body fat to get a better picture.

at 5'7" you are no size 10-12 if you weigh 240 pounds. Aside from hypothyroidism, the only reason you have gained weight is because of what and how much you eat, and a lack of adequate exercise.

You're building muscle, that's why.

I had the same experience. I'm 5'4" and was 180 and I lost 4 dress sizes. Instead of losing weight, I just lost inches. It was annoying until I realizd how much muscle I was putting on.

Congrats are in order! You have a lot of willpower. Muscle is heavier than fat. I gained 5 lbs when I first started working out. Keep up the good work! 240 is just a number ..it does not represent how much healthier your body is now.

Continue your healthy lifestyle. You are becoming slightly more muscular, which is fine. Muscles also burn more calories, even at rest. So, you will begin losing weight even faster in the near future.

Good luck and keep up the great work!

Is there something you're not telling us or exaggerated about? Because with that routine over a year period you should have dropped a considerable amount of weight IF your exercise and diet consistancy is good. I'd get a second opinion from another doctor.
