Definitely. Especially if they were elderly, pregnant, or had kiddies with them.

Yes, unless you have a good reason not to share such as suspicious circumstance requiring caution.
I remember a story I read long time ago. Queen Victoria was on a walk alone (yes, alone) and it started raining all of a sudden. She knocked at the closest door if she could borrow an umbrella that she will return soon. The owner Mrs Black did not recognize the person and did not want to lose her umbrella so she looked around if there was any old umbrella. She found a roughed up old umbrella with holes etc in it and gave it to the lady and ask her to return it promptly. A few hours later, to Mrs. Black surprise, the Queen's chariot stopped in front of Mrs. Black home and the Queen herself went to the door and knocked at the door. The Queen thanked Mrs Black, returned her old umbrella along with a new umbrella for for a Queen. By then the neighbours were watching the scene, and Mrs Black explaining that she did not recognize and that is why she gave the old umbrella and that she felt sorry.
This was just to share the story.
It is better to share and good to be cautios.

Depends where I am.

For excample: Right now, I'm in the country with the most murders in the Western Hemisphere, El Salvador. I would NEVER share my umbrilla with a stranger here. Just stepping outside there is an 80% chance of getting robbed.

If I was back in Florida, sure. because i've been all over Florida and I know that i can trust it. Same with Virginia. Or Rold Island.

I once gave an umbrella to a couple of guys that locked themselves out of their car on a rainy day.

I would be willing to share an umbrella on a rainy day, but, being a guy, and not Brad Pitt or George Clooney, I don't think you would accept the offer.

Once when it was raining really hard I saw an older woman who was waiting with only a paper to cover her head. My car was just across the street, so I offered her my umbrella to use while she waited for her ride. She gave me her phone number and when I came to pick it up she gave me a book also, a biography of her husband (who is a somewhat notable individual). It was great.

If we are both headed to the same place, then I'd offer to share the umbrella.

Of course, and also would offer a ride if I was driving. I would be scared for my life, but I feel guilty if I do not try to help. Would people be as kind to me? No probably not. I have walked in the rain, snow and through the middle of the night and no one ever offered to help me.

It would depend on my mood at the time and how safe I felt about it. I wouldn't feel guilty about not offering though....umbrellas are widely available and easy to come by. :)

I don't have an umbrella either. I usually just pull the hood up on my coat or hoodie.
