I saw Barrymore in Sunderland in Scrooge. I didnt know he was in it when I got the tickets, and really wished I didnt have to go. On numerous occassions when I'd seen him interviewed on Telly he was arrogant and not at all funny or pleasant, and of course there was the issue about the death at his house.
The cast of Scrooge were fabulous. Barrymore was not. He cannot act his way out of a wet paper bag and seemed to think he could turn the whole production into a comedy, which it wasnt. He seemed to think the audience owed him an ovation.
As a drama teacher I give him 0 out of 10
And before anyone blasts me with "he isnt an actor" and gives various excuses for his performance, my point is "if you cant do it, dont do it"

he was on stage in aberdeen just before xmas, was that not a panto. Maybe it was serious theatre stuff
