You force yourself to go out with friends as often as possible. Go to parties and get togethers. Go to dances. Joins clubs and organizations. Meet new people. Keep busy.
By being around a lot of people a lot of the time, you will meet new people and eventually, you will meet someone else who will help keep your mind off of this person.
If you are the type of person who sits by the phone waiting for him/her to call, get your phone number changed. Whatever you do,don't call this person. Stay away from him/her.
Try to stay away from places where this person may be.
Good luck!

Keep yourself busy, and work to improve your life. Start a new hobby, exercise (Exercising ALWAYS clears my mind, because I focus so much on jogging or lifting weights or whatever exercise it is, and it makes me think of my body and what I should be eating, AND makes me feel great about myself, it could easily do the same for you!), go hang out with friends. Just make the best of your life and what you have!

Don't fight it!! That's like telling someone not to look down.
Just say OK..think the name, and than think about something you need to do or turn on the radio. Turn your mind to something else gently. Otherwise, you'll just think of that person more.

You can't. After thinking about something for 3 seconds it technically stays in your mind forever. Sorry

you said it yourself...get them out of your mind....stop allowing it to affect your thoughts, emotions etc...it is a form of control the person still has on you wether they know it or not....no one likes to be controlled right? Don't let it control you!
Thats how I approach it. But don't let it turn you angry against the person. f thats what happens to you, you are doing it wrong. Just stop letting it affect you. Its within your control. It starts with your thoguht process about the person. Stop your thoughts when you think of him/her, don't dwell on stuff like that esepcially if it ihas to do with hurt fellings. Peace and good luck to ya!

by replacing your thoughts with something/someone else. Getting too busy to fantasize about the person and knowing that the person isn't going to like you even if you thought of them more (if that was the case).
