The dog must be in heat in order to get pregnant. Around day 12 of the season is the prime time. However, just because she is in heat doesn't mean that she will submit to the mating process. Sometimes dogs in heat will resist and can seriously injure the male unless pinned down!. They're not always up for it!

A dog cannot become pregnant if she is not in heat. Generally, bitches will not let a male mount them if they are not in season unless they are very laid back. Also, some of the mounting you see can be out of dominance and not actually trying to breed her. And keep in mind, some adolescent males will try to breed anything, whether or not the ***** is in season.
That being said, get your dog spayed. It's better for her long term health.

A female may be cranky as her heat cycle approaches. She will not accept a male until the days when she is fertile; until then she may fight him if he tries to breed.

No way, and usually they aren't interested in the act unless they are from what I can understand unless she is just a wild thing.

Do What ????Did you mean Breed? No She should be at least 8 months old before you worry ,but watch out from 8 mons. on she will more than likly be coming in soon.How old is she???Tell us more so we can help!!!!
