Las Vegas doesn't give you free drinks. However, most casinos in Vegas will provide free alcohol to people who are gaming. You do have to tip the server. As far as it being 'tiny' amounts of alcohol - work it. Ask for a double rum straight up and a coke back. Then, mix your own drink.

If I'm with someone playing and I'm not at that moment, they will usually serve me. However, you can't just walk up to the bar or grab a drink girl and expect a free drink if you aren't gambling. They have separate bar areas, and they most certainly charge.

Not that I know of, unless you are some type of VIP. In that case, you've already spent enough money anyways.

If you are at a gaming table or slots machine or something like that, you will be offered cheap, small, well drinks filled with ice or a bottled beer. Beer is your best bet because you can get something premium. But expect to offer some type of payment in the form of a tip anyways or you'll be lucky to get a waitress come looking for you again. $1 is typical, but still worth it. And yeah, you can fake sitting at the slots to get a drink.
