Lysergic acid diethylamide, commonly called LSD, acid, or LSD-25, is a semisynthetic psychedelic drug. LSD may produce visual effects such as moving geometric patterns, brilliant colors and "trails" behind moving objects. LSD does not produce hallucinations in the strict sense, but instead illusions and vivid daydream-like fantasies, in which ordinary objects and experiences take on entirely different appearances or meanings.

lysergic acid diethanolamide. A hallucinogen usually man made but ergot fungus (likes to eat rye bread) also can be a source. Ingesting just a real small amount means you will see, feel and hear things that aren't there. A "bad trip" is when like you see little black spiders (or worms) crawling all over your body. It usually wears off after 6 to 18 hrs. Its illegal to have. Besides bad trips, you can also have (and probably will) flash backs, which means you have hallucinations years after you last "dropped acid". Some people never recover. I doubt if anybody is the same after. Should be scary stuff, but then again some people are into Russian Roulette.
