Society is confused about many, many things and morals and values are at the top of the list.

I don't know anybody who looks down on 21-year-old virgins!

It is true that our society has become highly sexualized. People are sexually active and open about it, unlike in earlier times. People do not look down on unwed mothers the way they used to, and porn is acceptable to more people. All of these things are not necessarily good or bad, they are just the way it is. I am personally uncomfortable with this "morality" however. Being open is fine; "anything goes" is dangerous.

The accetance of early sexual behavior should never become a mandate for early sexual behavior! Society is adopting different values than have ever before prevailed, and some of them seem pretty sick. One needs to have a very firm sense of personal morality to resist the barrage of "just do it" messages. Those who are morally weak may be a majority, but each of us has an individual conscience to answer to. Being comfortable with ones own values is much more important than trying to get the rest of the world to follow those values.

I don't know anyone who judges or looks down on virgins... usually people respect them for staying true to their values. Unfortunately, society doesn't really look down on teenage pregnancies or teen sluts anymore. I think it is time to reintroduce the concept of shame to our young.

Yes. Society tries to play it two or three ways sometimes. There are many, many mixed messages.
