when downloading movies, the majority of them are porno. which is fine but im downloading kids films for my 7 year old daughter. How do i distinguise one from the other before my daughter sees them and do these films carry viruses? gratefully yours mariska.

Technically, Limewire itself it totally harmless and doesn't do much to your computer other than take up resources; like every other program.
It is like asking, "Is a knife harmful?" In the hands of a murder, YES! In the hands of a skilled surgeon, NO!
Most of the downloading that takes place on Limewire is illegal. Downloading movies and music that you do not own and did not copy yourself is illegal. Limewire is almost the SAME THING as Napster. I have no idea why they have not gone after these guys.
First, are you downloading porn? Shame on you then.
There is ABSOLUTELY no way to protect yourself. If you download a movie called "Bambie" you do not know if it is the cute 4 leg animated feature, or the 2-leg live feature.
Yes, much of the crap on limewire is crap, and has hooks. Maybe not viruses but other junk.

No it doesnot...Limewire is a software that can be used to download stuff of the internet.It cannot cause any damage to the Computer on its own.
BUT....!!!!
The Software you download including Songs, Pictures, Textfiles or Executables or even movies Can have Hidden Software in them which can harm the computer..my Advi ce would be to Download Soft ware from trusted Sites. If possible use IE 7 to search for Such sites. you can Prevent people from phishing your User Id That way..(Some websites do it).
I dont think Watching Porno is Bad but to keep it away from your daughter. Try to create another profile for you daughter. and keep yours Password Protected. Download Stuff For her from Her User Login and the Stuff you like from yours. That way you have eliminated the risk of her watching your Porno movies, altogether.

I love Limewire and I'm an avid user. If I want to download a music file I use Limewire always. you should get limewire too. It's a good peer to peer software if you have to download mp3, movies, videos or file.
Limewire is a safe and reliable program but like all peer to peer program you have to be careful of what you are donwloading from it. You always have to be cautious about what you download.
Don't use torrents/downloads from other sites, they might be backdoored.
It's a very good program and easy to use.

Limewire in itself will not harm your computer. The films you illegally download may contain viruses that can harm your computer. To distinguesh the two simply view them before you let your daughter see them.

,limewire does not harm your computer , but when you down load you are also up loading as well this can cause your broadband connection to block up if you have to many down loads and up loads going on, as for the films that you down load , i think that a lot of these porn film are put there by bad people to put porn films with the name of a film that that a child is likely to down load is totally wrong.
one of the things that you get with limewire is a lot of the programe downlaods have viruses in them.
i have since gone over to bit lord , and down load torrents , as they have stricter rules on their sites , and people leave comments about the torrents informing others if they are any good ,
but what ever you down load from any of these sort of sites , you as a parent should watch every film from start to finish , as they could have porn inserted in them , i came across a film called nemo it started OK but there had been porn film cut into the middle of it . so before you give any film to your children to watch , make sure that you have checked it first, as it will be to late after

dont use limewire it is full of viruses and trojans use ares for your downloads you can check the quality of the films before you download them also use a good security system like norton and your troubles should be over

some movies are not what they say they are, i suggest that you preview the file before your daughter does,unfortunately they may contain viruses but not likely.scan the file with your virus software before you view it .usually viruses are hidden in programs that you download,they contain EXE AND BAT files,that's where you have to be really careful

http://www.limewire.com/ is the most used free file sharing site. make sure you have anti virus running before swapping any files. the free edition of avg available from http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/ does a good job. once you have installed limewire do a search for limewire pro. then install this and delete the original. pro is faster. as to the content of what you download the only sure fire way of knowing is to view it yourself.

It may limewire has some adware or spyware so u better scan ur puter regularly....... something I find it hard to understand how can you download porn and have movies for ur kid is that normal behavour?????

The risk that you can get from this p2p software is definitely viruses... have your anti-viruse updated all the time
