When I first received braces, they hurt like hell the first day or two. After that, the pain resided. The only time I felt any pain after that is when the orthodontist made an adjustment where I only felt pain in that site. But the only time I felt pain in my entire mouth was when I first got them on. I treated it with Advil and swishing my mouth with Chloraseptic.

No of course they don't! They can seem a bit weird at first because you suddenly have metal in your teeth. And after they've been tightened they can ache a bit but if they hurt then they are not right and you need to tell your dentist!
