Honeycomb is made of wax flakes secreted from between the articulated plates on a bee's abdomen and glued together with propolis (a resin the bees harvest from the buds or bark of certain trees, usually confiers). This propolis is what gets some people all excited about beeswax. It is a very effective bacteriocide and fungicide, and has a limited ability to kill or retard viruses. It has been used as a dressing for wounds and general internal cure-what-ails-you since the days of ancient Greece.
Now, that being said, there are a lot of outlandish claims made about propolis, mostly by folks who want to sell it to you. You're likely to hear that it cures cancer, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, and just about everything else under the sun. I wish it were so, but unfortunately most such claims are pure hooey.
Getting back to your question: it's perfectly fine to eat honecomb. Once you suck the honey out of it, though, it's pretty bland and well... waxy. Most people just spit out the wax at that point, but if you want to go ahead and it eat it don't worry--it won't do you any harm, and there's an outside chance that you might actually benefit from it.

yes, and yes. it is raw so there is a teensy chance that it could make you little ill. it's no worse than drinking raw milk. take some honeycomb and chew it like gum. keep it in your mouth and suck the honey slowly, savor it. there's nothing out there like fresh honeycomb. oh yea, i've never heard of anyone getting sick of unpasteurized pure honey...honeyconb and all

I don't see why it would be bad for you to consume. I have eaten it often and have had no ill effects. They wouldn't sell it in the store with the honey comb if it weren't good for you. Or it would come with a warning and I've never seen a warning.

I think it's okay to eat. People who lived a long time ago used to eat it all the time.
