Eating a lot of high fiber foods will keep your daughter feeling saturated for longer. Does she like fruit or veggies? Eating dark bread is usually very good, too.
i have made the experience that after 1 to 2 weeks of eating less, you feel less hungry generally, as your body has adjusted to the lower intake of calories.

Start of with a breakfast high in fiber, at least 6gms. Bran flakes with raisins, oatmeal, miniwheats.
Eat a low fat yogurt for snack. Don't go more than 2-3hrs. with out having a small healthy snack. Carrot sticks, yogurt, apple.
Drink at least 4-5 8oz glasses of water through out the day.

One of the best things to do to curb appetite is to drink a large glass of water before every meal. This tricks your stomach into thinking it's full sooner. Also, water is a natural diurhetic. This means that you will urinate more and as a result feel more energy, which will encourage your body to use the food you do eat more efficiently.

Try high fiber foods - these don't have to taste nasty. Fruits are usually high in fiber and provide the sweetness that many people crave. Also try to increase your protein intake. You may find that the more you avoid the high carb, high sugar foods, the less of them you crave. Also drink lots of water. Good luck.

I have read many research articles and myself tried supplementing omega 3 pills (flaxseed or fish oil) into my diet and that has helped me to stop my cravings for bad food a lot.
