Most "Satan worshippers" don't really worship the Christian/Jewish Satan. They are really more akin to Wiccans, worshippers of nature, except that they want to shock and annoy more people by using the name Satan. I am a Christian and totally agree with you, by the way - but we should realize that most Satan worshippers really call themselves that for the shock value: in reality their religion/philosophy is naturalism, and they need Christ just like the rest of us.
I know, by the way, that most Jews today don't believe in Satan as a real being - I said "Christian/Jewish" because the Jewish scriptures (or as we would say, the Old Testament) supports his existence and therefore many Jews in the first century clearly believed in his existence. But of course, many people who call themselves "Christians" today don't believe he exists either, in spite of clear testimony in both Testaments of the Bible.

The answer if you ever get the right one is so multi varigated that it will through for a curve. Yet for the most part every individual person worships someone or something if it is not The One True God then it will be someone else. For the most part I think they start out thinking its a game, it is kind of cool, and then it snares them into Satan's traps. Other times they do it our of sheer curiousity and again get trapped into the lifestyle. There are times, that people actually go full force and openly worship Satan they dont believe that there is a Hell anyway. Not the Hell spokeof of in the Biblical sense. So they are deluded like the ones above. Others follow it for sadistic cruel and horrible reasons it empowers them the deeper they get into the ritualistic sadistic pratices and observances. yet the trap is there and yes they can and some do get out it takes a tremendous effort - But my God is more powerful than Satan for he created him, God is all powerful Satan is stripped of his power for the most part, it is mostly illusion. God is all knowing Satan does know alot of things and can give certain amounts of knowledge but they all lead to death and eternal death. God's knowledge is above all pure holy and undefiled it will make the person the best person he possibly can be. God is forgiving - Satan cannot forgive he has no power there to do so, He can manifest as angel of light but he is full of darkness and emptiness. This is not all the reasons but it is a few.

Honestly, actual worship of the Christian entity Satan is rare. It's mostly kids who want to rebel, and feel special.
However, Satanism is something different. Satanism is about becoming your own god, whether alone, or through the help of other gods.
That, and the concept of Satan as evil is purely Christian

Better to rule in hell with the devil than be a servant in heaven with God. Most satanists like kapute said are atheists who love to rile christians. the satanists that worship an actual satan do it because they realize that perhaps not everything is as it seems, and the Christian God is a jerk and a tyrant.

The only people that really worship Satan are the mentally flawed.
The rest of then only do it to tick off the religious of the world, and to drive their parents to an early grave.

Who do you think worships Satan? As far as I know, there are no religions or spiritual paths out there that worship Satan. If you're referring to Satanists, they worship themselves and the human experience/materialism, not Satan. They call themselves Satanists mainly to show they are in stark opposition to everything Christianity represents, not because they worship Satan.

Why would people worship a god who ordered the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of people whose only "sin" was living in the land he wanted his people to have? Why didn't he just keep Canaan open for the Hebrews, instead of letting people settle there at all?
Why would they worship a god who condones slavery, and thinks a woman should marry her rapist?
Psalm 137:9 says, "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." We're talking smashing infants on rocks, here. Not just wartime killing... *glorying* in killing *babies*.
How could anyone worship such a god? Simple. THEY DON'T THINK HE'S EVIL. They think that those passages are interpreted wrong, or that there were extenuating circumstances, or God has changed, or something like that. Anyway, their understanding of JHVH is not that he's a psychotic, capricious murderer; they think he's a loving and wise god.
How can anyone worship Satan? (Aside from the issue that most Satanists don't worship Satan.) *Because they don't think the Christian description of him is accurate.*
They think you've got it wrong, you misunderstand what really happened, just like you probably think I misunderstand Psalms 137:9. (How is that a "loving" god?) Their understanding of Satan is different from yours, just like my understanding of JHVH, the god of Abraham, is different from yours.

Satanists do not actually worship Satan. The religion is basically a mockery of Christianity. Please educate yourself (this is the internet and there are many great search engines and online encyclopedias) before asking an easily answered question.

From what I understand, power. They see life as too difficult to fight spiritually, so they just give up and reap the benefits of power over their fleshly life. They have no clue that their life is short and will be shortened even more.
John 10:10 The thief comes to rob, kill and destroy. [but Jesus has come to bring life more abundant]
