From personal experience, I have discovered that neutered dogs are much better at resisting the urge to mark their territory. Getting your dog neutered may stop him from marking his territory. As for household cleaners: Petco and Petsmart, and sometimes grocery stores, will carry a product called Nature's Miracle. This is in my opinion the best cleaner to remove stains and odor from carpet and upholstery.

Hope this helps!

There is no household cleaner that can _prevent_ him from marking. As for removing the stain to the point that the dog can no longer detect it, there is a fabulous product with a hysterical name: Anti-Icky-Poo. Swear to doG! It works on the molecular level and is completely safe.

As for your dog, is he neutered? Intact dogs are much more likely to mark their territory than neutered dogs.

They sell cleaners at Petco that will eliminate the odor so that they dog cant ever tell her even went there. Dont use any cleaner with ammonia in the ingredients.... that wont get rid of the urine smell to the dog, eeven though you cant smell it anymore.

I don't know if anything will prevent it, but Nature's Miracle is quite good at removing any evidence that he marked.
