My step dad abused prescription meds, and also done cocaine for 6 months, and was put into some sort of rehab. He only spent 23 days there, and he's out....but I feel he is back to his same habits...I know the signs cause he's doing things he done in the past...I'm not sure why my mom puts up with it, and they have a 14 year old son who is hurting emotionally from this. He's handicapped, he has one leg and is wheelchair bound....I think maybe family feels sorry for him, but I don't think he got proper help. He was able to call home whenever he wanted from that place too. Can anyone help me......what can I do to help, how can I motivate anyone to get him th right help? How should I be?

You can't do anything but be there to support your Mom. The guy won't get serious help until he "bottoms out".

He should go back to rehab. There is this one in Florida which is very nice and pretty stricted. they dont let you call home for the first two weeks your there. And after that you have limited calls and stuff and i think that if he was in a rehab that wasnt close to home he'd be more dedicated to it cuz he would miss you guys. thats just a thought

Not much you can do without calling Child Protective Services which will force him legally to get help.

Unfortunately, it's going to have to start with your stepdad. He's going to have to want help. Just be there for your mom, I'm sure she is having a tough time with this as well. Best of luck to you.

You have to report him to the children;s aide it is your duty if that child gets hurt then you could be responsible cause you know about this so please do every one a favour and report this to the proper people.

Talk to him. Be brutal but loving at once. If this does not work, arrange an intervention! My best wishes.
