Contact the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Inmate Locater Service. They can tell you if he's still in custody, and if he has been released, they will tell you when he was released. They cannot give you information on an upcoming release date, but will give you instructions on getting that information. As a victim, you are entitlted to upcoming release information, they just can't provide that information via the telephone. They can help you with accessing the proper folks to help you with that.

The phone number for CDCR's Inmate Locator service is 916-445-6713. You'll need the inmate's full name and date of birth, or if you have his CDC inmate number, that's best. Prepare to sit on hold for quite a while...

Also, if you haven't contacted the Victim's of Crime Program and filed a claim, I recommend you do so as soon as possible. Contact your local Victim Witness program, probably through your DA's office.

Call this number: (916) 445-6713

You will need full name and DOB, or CDC number. They will give you the location the inmate is in, or the release date if the inmate has already been released. They will not give you the release date if the inmate is still in custody.

If you know what Facility this person is being or was being housed in then you can call the Facility and ask for the "BOOKING" department and ask if so & so is incarcerated. Should they ask you why (and they have that right to know) Tell them the truth.
