Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate morsels
3/4 cup whipping cream, divided

10 cup sifted powdered sugar, divided
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Microwave chocolate morsels and 1/4 cup whipping cream in a 1-quart microwave-safe bowl at MEDIUM (50% power) 3 1/2 minutes. Stir until smooth.

If you have a blender - this one is awesome!

8 oz. unsweetened bakers chocolate - melted
1 can (the larger on 11oz. I think) can of evaporated milk
2 cups extrafine sugar

melt chocolate. Put milk and sugar in blender and mix in low speed. When sugar dissolves, add melted chocolate. When your mixer's wrrr goes to a grrr. it's done. it will look like pudding. Pour into a bowl and let sit on counter for 30 minutes UNCOVERED. Cover and let sit one more hour. DO NOT REFRIGERATE!!! After the hour, it will thicken - spread on cake. NOW put cake in frig for about 15 minutes and the frosting will set. Tastes like a dark chocolate fudge!!!

Chocolate Ganache

8 ounces of dark/bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
8 ounces heavy cream, hot

pour hot cream over chocolate let stand a few minutes, then stir until smooth.
allow to cool and beat for frosting consistancy
(or you can pour over cake while still warm and pourable)

You can take a basic buttercream recipe and add cocoa powder to it until it reaches the flavor you want. But, here's a recipe from cooks.com for easy chocolate frosting.

6 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. cocoa
3 c. powdered sugar
4 tbsp. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

In an electric mixer, cream together butter and sugar with vanilla until smooth. Add cocoa and milk, and beat until smooth and fluffy.

Butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, milk and cocoa. Buy a box of powdered (confectionery) sugar and follow that recipe. If they don't have a chocolate recipe make the butter cream recipe and ad cocoa as the first poster said.

For a really simple recipe, try
-butter
-milk
-powdered sugar
-cocoa
The butter needs to be soft. Use your brain at figuring out proportions.
