I have dark brown hair as well and did the same thing last year before summer. You do get to choose. I have an excellent hairdresser, but mine still looked like crap. Be careful because you may regret it. It doens't always turn out the way you expect. Ask for a blond color that will not look yellow in your hair. Good luck, I hope yours turns out the way you want.

i have dark brown hair and had 6 blonde flashes put in a few weeks ago. If your hair is really dark your hairdresser will probably have to to bleach it. Sometimes the bleach doesn't leave the desired colour and a toner is used to take the gold/yellowish colour out!
But all the same they should show you the different shades before you start!!

Ive got blond hair and I just got blond and brown flashes through it. The hairdresser showed me the colours and advised me what she thought would be best. I love it!

she should show you a range from a samples book, just pick all different types of blonde, i have dark brown hair to and to help lift the colour i choose three colours, 2 are blondes and one is a dark blonde or a really light brown! i just thinks its nice to have different flecks in there of your natural colour. but if you cant make a choicethen just ask them! x

I had a similar thing done a couple of years back and they did show me the colours but gave me advice on how the colours would look once finished - ie striking or more natural. Get them to hold the coloured strands they have up to your hair to see the predicted end result. I used to love having them done, it was really fun!

it depends on your hairdresser. i personally have blue streaks in my black hair. so my hair dresser showed me a lot of different blues and gave me her opinion. in the end i decided on dark blue which was only apparent in the sun. anyways i suggest going looking through and picking out a blond shade that you like the most with the guide and advice of your hair dresser. good luck, i'm sure whatever you pick you'll come out looking hot.

They always usually show you the samples and then they will make suggestions depending on skin tone and the original colour of your hair. adapt get forced into anything though, some can be very pushy

They will show you samples of different colours and probably suggest what they think will suit you best though you have the final choice

Go for subtle thin highlights, or you'll end up looking stripey and cheap. They'll be high maintainance too.
Take your hairdresser's advice.
