As it is, teens are hard to deal with, let alone an unruly stepson. Things have obviously not just begun to go wrong. There is little you can do to correct the situation but to take the ultimate route to rid yourself of this problem. Be assertive in letting him know that you are no longer willing to put up with his conduct and that you want him out of your house! Give him enough time to gather his belongings and that is all. If you have other younger children at home it is the best thing for your to do. You cannot run the risk of having his behavior affect the others in a negative way. Talk with his father and let him know that you have come to this conclusion. If he has love for you and his family, he will accept. Don't let yourself be fooled with promises to change his conduct, they are just attempts to play with your emotions so you will give in.

Seriously though, let the punishment fit the crime. If it's bad enough to involve the police then involve them. If it's not then you are lucky because my step family is 100% useless.

18 is enough. In US, 21 probably. But when a child reaches adulthood, he should be out the door, cause when his balls get to a certain size, he thinks we're all on the same level. So as far as I'm concerned, he should go find his own playing field where he can level it all he want.
