[1] Certificate or Diploma: after HS but NON-degree; evidence of training or study;
[2] Associates Degree (AA); 2 years of college work, often at community college or technical school;
[3] Bachelors Degree (Baccalaureate = BArts or BScience); 4 years of college or university academic work;
[4] Masters Degree (MA or MS); first level of postgraduate (=after graduating from college) study, usually about 2 years of work;
[5] Doctoral Degree (PhD = Doctor of Philosophy); additional coursework AND original research; 2~4 years of study;
[6] Professional degrees; DDS (doctor of dental surgery), JD (doctor of jurisprudence), MD (doctor of medicine); generally require about 6 years of postgraduate coursework and training.
