An extremely difficult match to call. Tunney wasn't a big heavyweight. He fought all but his last ten fights as a light heavyweight. He moved up in weight because he saw Dempsey fight and thought he exploit some things he saw Dempsey do while in the ring. I'm saying the Fighting Marine takes a narrow split decision in a tactical fight (as both men preferred to box than brawl).

This could have the makings of a very boring fight. Both boxers were good defensive fighters. I give Spinks the nod in power. Spinks by a close highly controversial, highly disputed 15 rd majority decision.

To Keith - Spinks was only KO'ed by Tyson. Tunney was not a power puncher. He is not even ranked in the 100 greatest punchers of all-time. There will be no KO's in this bout.

To all - Please study the fighters records before you form an opinion.

This is a joke right. Spinks is a light heavy weight, cruiser weight. Tunney would knock him out 20 seconds into the bout. Spinks never and I mean never should have moved out of the light heavy weight division. He at that time was one of my favorite fighters.

I give it to Tunney. Spinks was not even a true HW. Anyone who disagrees with me is either dumb or racist.
