LISTON - W 50 (KO's 39) TF 54 - W pct 93% - KO pct 72% - wins over Patterson[2], "Big Cat" Williams{2} and Folley - KO'ed by Ali[2] and L. Martin (average fighter) - #15 ranked puncher - #71 ranked fighter
HOLYFIELD - W 40 (KO's 25) TF 50 - W pct 80% - KO pct 50% - wins over Dokes, Holmes, Qawi, Bowe, Foreman, Moorer, Tyson and Douglas - KO'ed by Bowe - #77 ranked puncher - #22 ranked fighter
Won 1984 Olympic Bronze medal at Lt Hwy wt
Like Holmes and Ali had wins over the best fighters of his day.
The question: (Was Liston a bully/quitter or did he throw those 2 fights against Ali?). Holyfield can be at times a good defensive fighter and in this bout he will need to be. In this bout, Evander wants to go one better than Ali and tries to make Liston quit by going toe-to-toe with Liston. In a surprise outcome, Liston by an 8 rd TKO. Holyfield stumbles around the ring looking for his mouth piece just like Tyson did against Douglas.

Holyfield was a poser. He ducked Tyson for years and only fought him when he was worn down from prison and had no idea which way was up. Liston would give him a savage beating and then sleep like a baby that night. 15 Rounds? Try 4 if Holyfield was lucky.

From what I understand of Sonny Liston in his prime was a sort of a early version of Mike Tyson, so I would have to go with Holyfield beating him by being able to stand up to him.

this could purely be comparable to Tyson vs Evander.(w/ no biting of ear) Liston vs Tyson could be greater exciting when you consider that they're going to supply one yet another a hell of a combat.yet I wager Liston does not win to boot. against Holyfield, Liston could be no experience. they war 10X, Holyfield wins 10x.the actual Deal is so slick, so good there is not any way Sonny could win

Holyfield, he was too skilled, much better trained. Listons biggest weapon was intimidation many fighters were beaten before the bell even rang. Evander would stand up to him, trade shot for shot. Liston would get discouraged and get tko'd or quit on his stool.

Holyfield by late round TKO. Too good of a boxer, too big a heart, too much character. Remember Liston quit on his stool as champion in the first Ali fight.
