Some girl you sound very intelligent. Most Religion will stifle free thinking and classify it as a sin! I was forced to go to church and read the bible! It is very boring and sometimes insulting to some one with a thinking brain. Think of the contradictions, recognize the things that make no sense at all. First of all I always wondered if 3 kings gave Mary and Joseph gifts that night why were they poor? Even a little bit of treasure way back when and you were loaded! Did big Joe blow it all on gambling and women and if so why did they leave that out?

Have you told your parents that you aren't getting anything out of the services and that you're questioning whether you believe the same way they do?

Perhaps they might be good enough to understand your objection if you politely inform them that you have formed your own belief system that isn't compatible with what is being taught at your family's current house of worship.

I suggest sitting down with them and talking about the situation so that all of you can resolve this in a way that will prevent you from having to pay lip service to a faith that you can't in good conscience follow.

Good luck!

As long as you're a minor and living at home, your parents get to make the rules--so long as they violate no laws, of course. Once you're on your own, you are in charge of your life. In the meantime, what to do to stave off boredom during the service? Anything that does not disturb anyone else and detract from their benefiting from the service.

Find out if the church has a youth group. Perhaps you can participate in that in lieu of the main service.

Ok, so you believe in God. Are you sure?.Because after all, there are millions of religions (so you believe) ,so does that mean there are millions of "gods" in your opinion? If you really do believe in The One and Only "GOD ALMIGHTY", then there is at least one reason why you should pay attention and go to church. Your life in the eternity depends upon it, that is if you want to be in the eternity (hopefully with those you know and love).I know it is difficult for most teenagers or younger people to commit themselves at such a young age to follow Christ,to follow the Christian beliefs, because they believe in doing so that they will have to sacrifice everything in life that is fun. Not true. If your church has led you to believe that you can't sin unless you risk eternal damnation in hell then you've been taught a bunch of lies.Yes, it is not good to sin,and we should try to not willing do so ,however we ALL do sin.Whether intentionally or unintentionally from time to time we all have our moments of weaknesses, and we all have our infirmities. It's human nature. But wait a minute, Christ was born in the flesh, the only begotten Son of God,Who was sacrificed on the cross ,so that we could be forgiven of all our earthly sins (upon repentence of them). If this is true then the best we can hope for is to try and live our lives righteously (according to God's laws),and to believe upon Christ, and when we do slip (and we all do),repent of it,and try not to do it again.I don't think you understand the importance of truly understanding God's Word. But believe me as you get older (and you will) and life's trials and tribulations wear you down, you will "if your belief" is sincere seek God .Just pray that it isn't too far along in the twilight years of your life before you do.I know, Booorrriiinnnggg right!.Well, maybe that's what you can do in church when your bored,"think about the possibility of your very soul being blotted out forever".You certainly won't have to worry about being bored then, because there won't be any "then" for you.I'm not trying to scare you,but you need to open your eyes.Sometimes you have to close your flesh eyes in order to see with your spiritual eyes.

If you're artistic, you could do some sketches.

You could also look online for some interesting theological discussion points and print them out. Print them in 8 point or smaller, so you don't have people reading over your shoulder. For some reason, some church goers frown on thinking for yourself.

One amusing thing you can is to listen to the preacher and find the flaws in his sermon. Any sermon that is based on the Bible has some flaws in it. It can be a little game for you.

if you want to be entertained then dont go to church.
church is a vanity if you go to be entertained.
many people go to church, and call themselve christian, but jesus said there are those that confess with their lips and their heart is far from me.

but even though you do not have a testimony of the gospel of christ, I can testify to you that there is A GOD in heaven. I have seen the glory of jesus christ, i have seen an angel appear in my room. I do not believe any human gave me any of htese visions.

i had 4 of them that i do not believe they came from any ohter source.
of course you have questions and doubt what your parents teach you! there is corruption in all the beliefs of religions all over the planet earth.
Only you can ASK god what is true and only YOU can receive the answer. but be not deceived of just any answer.

You write like your parents believe in the bible and go to a bible faith church.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing a word about Christ / God.

Are you at the age of accountability? Writes like you are and rebelling against the Truth of God and Jesus Christ.

It is written to obey your parents in the Lord. So if they are telling you to steal, then you don't have to obey, because the Lord said to not steal. If your parents tell you to listen to the Pastor preach the bible & faith in God, then listen, because God washes us with His Word. It is when people add or take away from Gods Word or Message that you should reject false doctrines.

The foundational Truth of any true Church of Christ is that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Son of the Living God. He was born of a virgin, tempted like us and overcame satans deception (He came to destroy the works of the devil.). He shed His own blood to redeem us from our sins. He raised up from the dead victorious over death & hell for our justification. If your parents teach this truth as foundational, you should realize your parents are right. And salvation (eternal life) is a gift of God and not by being good enouph, $, or doing anything (works), so no one boasts / is self righteous about it. Salvation is through Faith in Christ and Confessing Jesus Christ LORD and believing in your heart that He raised from the dead after paying the price for your sins (rebelling / disobedient against God & Jesus) on the cross.

Most churches have errors in it somewhere and Pastors may preach something wrong at times (because they are human). But a Pastor who is anointed of God to preach should be listened to. Remember Faith comes by hearing and hearing a word about Christ / God. And the Holy Spirit will reveal to you if something said is for someone else and not you. Please don't reject the love tugging of the Holy Spirit who draws you to Gods saving Grace.

The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth and is no liar. You don't need someone else to teach you if you are born of God, reborn spiritually. Because you have the Spirit of Truth that leads you into all truth. Read 1-3 John. I think it's 1 John 2:22-24 you have the verse on the spirit of Truth anointing.

During the sermon, I used to occasionally sneak off to the restroom and masturbate.

Something about all those people telling me I shouldn't ever think about sex made me think about sex a LOT.

It isn't a sin. Everyone touches their genitals in the restroom.

Just don't forget to wash your hands after, and you will be fine.

look, If you actually started listeining to the preaching. My church is never boring, people are always getting healed, And people predict things. Like a preacher from peru predicted the twin towers would fall, and 4 monthes later it did. You have to go to a church that is the truth, then it will never be boring. Our religion is United Pentecostal Church.
