Gas is my preference.
I was raised with gas cooking and it took me a while, and more than a few burned recipes, to realize that electric continues cooking after you turn off the burner!
&***^%$#@!!!
In all of the restaurants I've cooked in, the cooking method has been gas. I think the food tastes better when cooked over flame.
Plus, and it must be the pyromaniac in me, I love watching the flames...
Happy New Year!!

Electric! Gas catches your clothes on fire, gives off gas when the burner blows out from the ceiling fan or a slight draft, everything cooks unevenly it's either burn or not cook, I hate relighting pilot lights, I hate using clickers or matches to light the stove, it's messy to clean, there are only 3 settings.
Electric is the only way to go, and I grew up on electric, and worked with gas stoves for over 10 years. I still believe in electric. Now if I could just convince my husband that electric is good!

All through my childhood everyone that I knew cooked with gas. A few people I knew cooked with a peat stove. I prefer to cook with gas it is easier to adjust the flame giving you more control, gas is what I understand best. But alas, I live in an apartment and the stoves are all electric. I miss heating up corn tortillas and getting the edges all crispy.

I whole-heartedly say gas for a single reason: I can control the heat much better. With an electric stove, you have to wait for the burner to get hot or cool off - that can seriously screw up delicate stuff like candies and other things that have to be tempered just right.

Gas is faster and you control better the heat, but its more dirty.
if i can have an induction vitotroceramic stove, electric, i prefer that over anything else. Fast as gas, and easy to clean. if normal electric, better gas all the way. faster, and cheaper.

I have electric and I have gotten used to it. It seems to heat the pot more evenly. However, gas is somewhat easier to control for the amount of heat. Also, with gas, the burner itself seems to cool done much faster than with electric. If this were a perfect world, my stove would have two electric burners and two gas burners!

gas!! because it cooks your food way faster and as soon as you turn it on you can start cooking, but with an electric stove it takes like a minute for the stove to get hot...alot of peple are in a rush when they cook!!

A gas stovetop is much better because you can control the heat more precisely, without the "overshoot" typical of electric elements.

I prefer gas. It allows for a more accurate control of temperature than electric. Plus it's easier to flambe things.
