My wife had maxoacial surgury to correct an overbite. They added about 4mm of bone to the back of her jaw, and fastened it with screws. I am wondering if the bone they added will fuse to her jawbone.

Yes, it is like that it will. Bone grafts are done for many things and if they work properly, that can happen. My sister-in-law had it done to her ankle to replace deteriorated bone there.

Your body is growing everyday. Every week you have a completely new layer of skin and every three years you have new bones. Sounds crazy I know...but this is how your body determines how much extra skins and connective tissues that you need for the growth of bones when you are young. Although it's a little more detailed then this. I thought you might find this tid-bit of information interesting. Hope this helped

Yes it will grow together. Bones go through a "remodeling" process when they are injured. This is how a bone heals itself when it breaks.
