I'm covered under my father's insurance until I'm out of college (I'm in my last year), but obviously my baby isn't. I'll have to get Medicaid for the baby.. but when can I do that? I can't imagine that I can walk into the Medicaid office and get insurance for someone that isn't born yet... How do you go about this? Thanks!

Well, since I've evidently bothered some "tax-payers", let me clarify that I have a job. Due to a move, I haven't had it long enough to be eligible for their insurance. Anyway, my question is really about the pediatric care that is required immediately after birth. How do you pay that? Is it included in the hospital bill that you make payments on? I'm just thinking that the baby will need insurance for the care she will recieve while we are in the hospital.

You cant. And most likely you cant get Medicaide because you are under your dads insurance. If you dropped the insurance then Medicaide wont pick you up for 6 months (thats how it is in NM,TX and NC anyway...yeah I have moved around alot). You could maybe see if you can get Mediacide as a secondary insurance which will cover the cost insurance doesnt pick up such as the co-pays. Go or call your local Dept of Human Services. I had insurance and Medicaide with my second pregnancy.
After that baby is born go apply and get the Medicaide for the baby. Once approved medicaide will go back up to 3 months which will cover the cost for the baby's hospital stay after birth.

If you are covered under your father's insurance, then you can get prenatal care. You do not need health insurance for your unborn child per se, you need to get the right care for you at this point, and that is prenatal care. Simply go to your doctor and make an appointment the way you always do and go from there.

How about getting a job and some insurance rather than immediately planning to use taxpayer money?

i might first communicate on your document place of work and attempt and artwork out fee preparations for the invoice you in basic terms have been given, and get an entire special checklist of what precisely you're figuring out to purchase whilst it comprises your surgeon. Then i might call the scientific institution you would be turning in at and spot in the event that they have some style of economic setup obtainable. i actually am merely getting coverage on Aug a million yet as of my first appointment with surgeon I had no coverage. I have been given a precise quantity that i mandatory to pay the surgeon. That risk-free all visits to him, and transport. It did no longer comprise lab artwork, ultrasounds or pap. THEN I talked to the scientific institution and found out that they had a slide for all of us who did no longer have coverage. i found out precisely how plenty the scientific institution stay might fee for a common transport and for a c-section, alongside with the fee for them to preserve the toddler on an identical time as interior the scientific institution. The scientific institution I went to stated that alot of hospitals, in case you will pay it in the past the transport, will different than a definite quantity and that's it. i might merely initiate asking questions and be useful to get a catalogue of precisely what you're figuring out to purchase. For me, except some thing important got here approximately... my ALL at the same time invoice for surgeon, scientific institution and toddler could be around $8,000. perfect of success.

Right now. Go to the welfare office and they will let you sign up for it. You are pregnant now so they would give it to you now not later on.
